Sunshine Queens President Federation Cup Quarter-Final Qualification as Ondo FA boss praises team after 2-0 win over Plateau United Queens

The Chairman of the Ondo State Football Agency (ODSFA), Mr Divine Ogbonnaya, on Wednesday commended Sunshine Queens for their impressive qualification into the quarter-finals of the 2026 Women’s President Federation Cup after a 2-0 victory over Plateau United Queens in the Round of 16.

The Sunshine Queens President Federation Cup Quarter-Final Qualification was confirmed following a disciplined performance by the Owena Whales, who secured a comfortable win despite strong opposition.

Ogbonnaya praised the players for their resilience and determination, describing their display as committed and deserving of progression to the next stage of the competition.

He acknowledged that Plateau United Queens posed significant challenges, noting that the scoreline did not fully reflect the competitiveness of the encounter.

“It’s a game that ought to produce more goals, but overall I’m satisfied with you girls,” Ogbonnaya was quoted as saying.

He added that the opposition were not an easy side to overcome, expressing satisfaction that Sunshine Queens maintained focus to secure victory and advance in the tournament.

“The opponents are not push overs either, I’m glad we’ve progressed,” he said.
