PSC promotes 13 police AIGs after exams and interviews, including FCT and Lagos police commissioners in latest senior police reshuffle

The Police Service Commission (PSC) on Thursday announced the promotion of 13 Commissioners of Police to the rank of Assistant Inspectors-General of Police in a major restructuring within the Nigeria Police hierarchy.

Among those elevated are the Commissioners of Police for the Federal Capital Territory and Lagos State, Dantawaye Miller and Olohundare Jimoh.

The announcement was contained in a statement issued by the Head of Protocol and Public Affairs of the PSC, Torty Kalu, who said the promotions followed the officers’ successful performance in recently concluded written examinations and oral interviews conducted by the commission.

Kalu noted that the list of the promoted officers had already been forwarded to the Nigeria Police Force leadership for immediate implementation.

Other officers promoted to the rank of Assistant Inspector-General of Police include Emmanuel Christopher, Joseph Eribo, Uche Ifeanyi, Olarenwaju Ogunlowo, Muhammad Dahiru and Dankombo Morris.

The list also features Bello Shehu, Ibrahim Maikaba, Ahmed Musa, Simeon Akpanudom and Haruna Olufemi.

In a related development, the commission approved the promotion of 17 Deputy Commissioners of Police to the rank of Commissioner of Police.

Those elevated include Abdulrahim Shaibu, Abbas Sule, Ojugbele Adebola, Preye Egbetokun, Kayode Magaji, Adebisi Lateef, Markus Basiran and Silas Aremu.

Others are Sylvester Uzoefuna, Magaji Ismaila, Theodore Obasi, Sarah Ehindero, Hayatu Hassan, Mohammed Babakura, Danjuma Yahaya and Rebecca Okereke.

The commission also promoted 19 Assistant Commissioners of Police to the rank of Deputy Commissioners and elevated 35 Chief Superintendents of Police to Assistant Commissioners.

Chairman of the PSC, Hashimu Argungu, congratulated the newly promoted officers and described the advancement as recognition of merit, dedication and professional excellence.

Argungu urged the officers to justify their new responsibilities through renewed commitment to effective policing and national security.

“The promotion is not an end but an opportunity to contribute more to the noble task of safeguarding lives and property,” he said.

The PSC chairman added that the commission remains committed to transparency, merit and adherence to global best practices in the promotion of officers within the Nigeria Police.
