PDP Ebonyi SWC inauguration sees Hon. Chukwuma Igwe and Hon. Henry Ngonu take office to rebuild party ahead of 2027 elections

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has inaugurated its newly elected State Working Committee (SWC) in Ebonyi State, appointing Hon. Chukwuma Igwe as state chairman and Hon. Henry Ngonu as state secretary.

The election of the new SWC members took place at the PDP Secretariat along the Abakaliki/Enugu Expressway during a state congress on Friday, which witnessed strong turnout from party faithful.

The congress was monitored by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), and security operatives ensured a peaceful process throughout.

Barr Ukpai Ukairo, chairman of the seven-man Congress Committee, announced that the party adopted a consensus approach in the election to reduce internal friction, praising the conduct of PDP members in Ebonyi State.

He encouraged the new leadership to focus on strengthening the party as it prepares for the 2027 general elections.

At the inauguration, Southeast National Vice Chairman of the PDP, Hon. Chidiebere Goodluck Egwu, congratulated the new executive and urged them to engage stakeholders and ensure inclusivity in rebuilding the party.

He also emphasised the importance of active member participation in the e-registration of members in line with the Electoral Act 2025.

Key members of the new Ebonyi PDP SWC include Chief Chris Elechi Ngwuta (Deputy Chairman), Prince Kigsley Igwe (Treasurer), Barr Okohue Nkaa (Legal Adviser), Okoro Chukwudi Goodluck (Organising Secretary), and Nnanna Emea Oji (Youth Leader).

Women and regional representation include Mrs. Chinyere Nwele (Women Leader), Darlington Onwe (Publicity Secretary), Alhaji Idris Oken (Vice Chairman, Central), Barr Ugochukwu Obasi (Vice Chairman, South), and Mrs. Nwojiji Blessing Chinazum (Vice Chairman, North).

The PDP leadership in Ebonyi State now begins a renewed effort to consolidate party structures and prepare for upcoming elections, signalling a strategic push to restore the party’s dominance in the region.
