Ondo PDP strength amid dissolution rumours: state leadership rejects claims, maintains unity and vows to remain a strong opposition party

The Peoples Democratic Party in Ondo State has dismissed reports of a dissolution of its state executive committee, insisting that the party remains a strong opposition capable of challenging the ruling party.

State Chairman, Dupe Aisida, made the statement on Friday while responding to claims attributed to the factional National Organizing Secretary, Umaru Bature, who reportedly announced the dissolution and formation of a caretaker committee.

Aisida described the purported dissolution as unlawful and misleading, saying the Ondo State Executive Committee remains fully operational.

“The attention of the Ondo State Chapter of the PDP has been drawn to a statement circulating in some quarters claiming that the National Caretaker Working Committee has dissolved the Ondo State Executive Committee of the party,” he said.

“The state executive committee clearly, unequivocally, and without any ambiguity wish to state that the Ondo State Executive Committee remains intact, duly constituted, and fully operational.

The said publication did not emanate from any properly communicated channel to the Ondo State leadership of the party,” Aisida added.

The chairman emphasised that despite internal challenges, the PDP continues to be a formidable political force, citing successful elections in pockets of the country as evidence of its resilience.

He urged party members across all 18 local government areas to remain calm, focused and loyal to the party, warning the public and media against spreading misleading interpretations that could disrupt party cohesion.

“The Ondo State chapter of the PDP remains united, strong, and committed to providing credible leadership and a viable alternative for the good people of Ondo State,” Aisida said.
