Osun police widen probe into fatal shooting by customs operatives on Iwo–Osogbo Road; officers at nearby checkpoint also under investigation

The Osun State Police Command has intensified its investigation into the fatal shooting of Anayo Azikwe Michael, a 41-year-old motorist from Delta State, along the Iwo–Osogbo Road.

Two operatives of the Nigeria Customs Service, Kolawole Suuti and Danjuma Samuel, have been detained as the police examine their direct involvement in the incident.

Additionally, police officers stationed at a nearby checkpoint are under scrutiny to determine their response during the shooting.

DSP Abiodun Ojelabi, the police spokesperson, confirmed that all aspects of the case are being investigated, emphasizing that “We will not leave any stone unturned in getting to the root of the matter.”

Family members of the deceased have traveled to Osun State to receive updates, while police maintain a presence in the area as residents call for a transparent investigation and accountability.
