This move, according to police spokesperson ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, is aimed at improving the Force’s ability to detect, prevent, and respond swiftly to criminal activities across the country.

In a statement released on Saturday, Adejobi explained that the new tools are designed to bolster crime-fighting efforts, particularly in response to the changing dynamics of crime in Nigeria and globally.

To maximize the impact of the new technology, the IGP has also ordered the commencement of comprehensive training programs for TIU personnel.

programs are tailored to global intelligence standards, equipping officers with the skills required to effectively deploy and manage the new technologies.

“These rigorous training programs are designed to equip them with the prerequisite knowledge to operate the newly deployed technologies,” Adejobi noted, adding that they ensure the Force remains adaptable in the face of evolving threats.

The IGP’s initiative has already begun yielding results. Adejobi cited recent operations, including the arrest of a notorious arms smuggling gang operating in Benue, Taraba, Adamawa, and Plateau States, as examples of the success of intelligence-led efforts.
