Former England striker Michael Owen says Liverpool remain the best team in the Premier League despite struggling this season

Former England striker Michael Owen has insisted that Liverpool F.C. remain the best team in the Premier League.

Owen made the claim despite Liverpool’s difficult campaign this season under manager Arne Slot.

The Reds currently sit sixth in the league table. They trail leaders Arsenal F.C. by 19 points.

Arsenal lead the table by seven points ahead of Manchester City F.C.. However, the Gunners have played one more game.

“Personally, I think Liverpool are the best team in the Premier League,” Owen said.

“Some people might find it surprising, but they were really strong last season.”

He admitted the team is not currently at its best level.

“They’re not playing as well right now. But if you imagine the best version of every team in the Premier League and compare them, I believe Liverpool are the best,” Owen added.
