Gunmen assassinate Oba Kehinde Falodun, Alagamọ of Agamọ in Ondo, with security forces searching for perpetrators

Gunmen on Wednesday evening assassinated Oba Kehinde Falodun, the Alagamọ of the Agamọ community in Akure North Local Government Area, Ondo State.

Police confirmed the attack occurred at approximately 7:10 p.m., according to a statement by the Police Public Relations Officer, Abayomi Jimoh.

Jimoh explained that the report reached police around 7:50 p.m., submitted by community leader High Chief Ajewole Clement of New Town, Itaogbolu.

According to the account, roughly six armed men stormed the monarch’s residence, forcibly removed him from his compound, and fled the scene.

“The victim was later discovered a few metres away, bearing gunshot injuries. He was pronounced dead at the scene,” Jimoh said.

Police immediately mobilised the Divisional Police Officer and tactical teams, working alongside local security groups.

Atuluse Security, local hunters, and Amotekun operatives participated in searches of surrounding bushes and neighbouring areas to apprehend the perpetrators.

Jimoh confirmed that monitoring and surveillance operations have been heightened across the area to protect residents and prevent further disruption.

“The public is assured that no stone will be left unturned in bringing those responsible for this heinous act to justice,” he added.

The police urged members of the public with credible information to report immediately to the nearest station or contact the command directly.
