Nigerian Army kills two suspected terrorists in Ondo, recovers AK-47 and ammunition, highlighting efforts to curb criminal activity in the state

Troops of the 32 Artillery Brigade have neutralized two suspected armed terrorists and recovered weapons during a tactical operation along Akunu–Auga Road in Ondo State.

According to the Nigerian Army, the operation, conducted on February 14, 2026, was based on credible human intelligence regarding the movement of the suspects.

The ensuing clash led to a firefight in which two terrorists were killed, while others fled, allegedly wounded.

The operation was carried out jointly with the **Ondo State Security Network Agency (Amotekun)** and local vigilantes, highlighting the collaborative approach to tackling insecurity in the state.

The Army reaffirmed its commitment to deny criminal elements freedom of movement and urged public cooperation by providing timely intelligence to sustain effective security measures.

This operation comes amid intensified security efforts across Ondo, where the Amotekun Corps has reportedly arrested 95 suspected criminals for crimes ranging from kidnapping and theft to illegal mining and burglary.
