IPOB Criminal Agitators

Human rights activist Ejiofor calls for sustained security operations against IPOB criminal agitators while protecting the reputation of the peaceful movement

IPOB Criminal Agitators have been the focus of renewed security operations in Imo State, with human rights activist Sir Ifeanyi Ejiofor backing the onslaught as essential for the survival of the South-East region.

Ejiofor, counsel for the Indigenous People of Biafra, urged security agencies to remain resolute while distinguishing the peaceful global IPOB movement from violent criminal elements.

He welcomed the arrest of notorious commander Ifeanyi Eze Okorienta, known as “Gentle de Yahoo,” by the Nigerian Army in Okigwe Local Government Area, describing it as encouraging news that must be sustained.

Ejiofor criticised the confusion between the peaceful IPOB and the violent gangs led by Simon Ekpa, highlighting that perpetrators often claim affiliation with IPOB while the movement’s leadership repeatedly dissociates itself from these attacks.

He called such acts “criminal, not agitators; killers, not freedom fighters,” emphasising that invoking religious justification does not legitimise violence.

The activist further noted that despite the ongoing Supreme Court appeal against IPOB’s proscription, political actors continue to weaponise the name of the movement for convenience.

He stressed that security agencies are aware of the true nature of these criminal gangs and urged them to maintain focus and precision in operations.
