Bruno Guimaraes Arsenal Move gathers pace as the Newcastle captain tells the club he wants a transfer despite interest from Arsenal

Newcastle United captain Bruno Guimaraes has informed the Premier League club of his desire to join Arsenal, as speculation over the Brazil midfielder’s future continues ahead of the new season.

The 28-year-old has communicated his preference to move to the Emirates Stadium, although Arsenal are yet to make direct contact with Newcastle over a possible transfer.

According to Sky Sports, Arsenal have explored the conditions of a potential deal through intermediaries as they assess the possibility of bringing Guimaraes to north London.

Guimaraes remains under contract at Newcastle, with two years left on his current agreement and an option that could extend his stay until the summer of 2029.

Newcastle, however, are reluctant to lose their captain and have maintained that the midfielder is not available for transfer.
