Ayra Starr’s mother, Nene Aderigbigbe, explains why she severed ties with three friends, citing trust breaches, inappropriate behaviour, and emotional exhaustion

Nene Aderigbigbe, mother of Nigerian singer Ayra Starr, has opened up about why she permanently ended relationships with three close friends, citing breaches of trust, inappropriate behaviour, and emotional exhaustion.

In a New Year reflection shared on TikTok, Aderigbigbe revisited past decisions and questioned whether she had overreacted before explaining the circumstances that led to the fallouts.

She said the first friendship ended after a serious breach of confidence.

A private conversation she had shared with the friend was later disclosed to the friend’s husband without her consent.

She immediately cut off communication and has not spoken to the friend since.

The second friendship was terminated due to what Aderigbigbe described as inappropriate and uncomfortable contact from the friend’s husband. She said she felt disrespected and uneasy by his messages.

“The second person, I am your friend, why will your husband be telling me where he is travelling to?” she asked.

The third friendship became emotionally draining. Despite being married for over 20 years, the friend repeatedly called to complain about her marriage, which Aderigbigbe said took a toll on her mental well-being.

“So that is why I cut those friends off, and till today, they do not even know why,” she added.
