Amad Diallo has backed Michael Carrick for the permanent Manchester United manager role after an impressive run of results since taking over as interim boss

Manchester United winger Amad Diallo has thrown his support behind interim manager Michael Carrick, backing him to take the role permanently after an impressive run of results.

Carrick stepped in as caretaker manager in January following the dismissal of Rúben Amorim and has since overseen a strong turnaround in form.

Under his leadership, Manchester United have recorded seven wins and just one defeat in 10 matches, reigniting hopes of Champions League qualification after a two-year absence.

The club now needs four wins and a draw from their remaining seven fixtures to secure a top-four finish.

Despite the improved results, United’s hierarchy remains cautious and plans to wait until the end of the season before making a final decision.

So far, no formal talks have been held with alternative candidates, and options in the market appear to be narrowing.

Speaking from the club’s training camp in the Republic of Ireland, Diallo praised Carrick’s influence on the squad.

“From a personal view, he’s the right man. He has a lot of experience and understands the club,” Diallo said.

“He has a very good relationship with the players, and sometimes that is exactly what a team needs.”

He added that while the final decision is not up to the players, the dressing room remains fully behind the interim manager.

Forward Bryan Mbeumo also praised Carrick’s communication and familiarity with the club environment.

United’s recent performances suggest a growing connection between Carrick and his squad, which could influence the club’s final decision at the end of the season.
