Atlético Madrid are set to welcome back Ademola Lookman as they prepare to face FC Barcelona in the first leg of their UEFA Champions League quarter-final clash on Wednesday night.

The Nigerian forward missed their last meeting on Saturday but is now expected to return to action, boosting Diego Simeone’s attacking options for the high-stakes encounter at home.

Atlético Madrid head into the tie following a 2-1 domestic defeat at the weekend, shifting their focus firmly to European competition as they chase silverware this season.

Lookman has been a key figure since joining the club, registering important goals and assists across competitions, including one goal and two assists in four Champions League appearances this season.

Across all competitions, the 28-year-old has recorded five goals and four assists in 14 matches for Simeone’s side, underlining his growing influence in the squad.

The forward also played a decisive role in Atlético’s Copa del Rey run, helping them secure a two-legged victory over Barcelona earlier in the season.

Speaking ahead of the clash, Lookman acknowledged the challenge posed by Barcelona but insisted Atlético remain confident and focused on winning.
