The late twist came in the eighth minute of added time when the Brazilian goalkeeper failed to deal with a long throw-in, fumbling the ball into his own net as home fans were moments away from celebrating what could have been a decisive result in the title race.

Al Nassr had taken a strong position in the match and were on course for a crucial win before the heartbreaking late error shifted the momentum in stoppage time.

The result leaves Cristiano Ronaldo’s side five points clear at the top, although Al Hilal still have a game in hand, keeping the championship battle alive heading into the final stretch of the season.

Ronaldo, now 41, is still chasing his first domestic league title in Saudi Arabia since joining Al Nassr in 2023, a move that significantly boosted global attention on the league.

Al Nassr will now look to seal the title when they face Damac in their final league fixture next week, with their fate still in their own hands.

The draw adds fresh tension to an already fierce rivalry between Saudi Arabia’s two leading clubs, both of whom remain in contention for top honours.
