Despite Atlético Madrid goalkeeper Juan Musso getting a strong hand to the effort, the strike stood as Adams’ seventh LaLiga goal of the season and set the tone for Sevilla’s energetic start.

The match also featured Nigerian international Ademola Lookman, who began on the bench for Atlético Madrid as Diego Simeone rotated his squad ahead of their UEFA Champions League quarter-final second leg against Barcelona.

Lookman was introduced in the 71st minute but struggled to influence proceedings.
