TRCN reports over 10,000 teachers enrolled for qualifying exam as Nigeria’s digital registration system records strong nationwide uptake

The Teachers Registration Council of Nigeria (TRCN) has announced that more than 10,000 teachers nationwide have successfully enrolled for its upcoming Professional Qualifying Examination, reflecting growing confidence in the council’s newly deployed digital registration system.

The TRCN teachers qualifying exam surge comes ahead of the May 14–16, 2026 Batch A examination, which will be conducted nationwide under the council’s modernised licensing framework.

TRCN Registrar and Chief Executive, Dr Ronke Soyombo, disclosed that all registrations were completed through the council’s official online portal, introduced in September 2025 as part of broader reforms aimed at digitising teacher certification and registration processes in Nigeria.

She noted that the system initially faced technical disruptions due to high traffic and the transition from manual to digital operations, but stressed that the challenges have since been resolved.

According to her, the platform is now fully stable and operating efficiently, serving thousands of teachers across the country without interruption.

Soyombo described the early glitches as a normal phase in large-scale digital transformation and rejected any suggestion that they indicated systemic failure.

She further emphasised that the online portal remains the only authorised platform for teacher registration, licensing, and certification in Nigeria, a move designed to improve transparency and reduce fraudulent practices.

The TRCN boss also clarified that no commercial bank has been authorised to sell registration forms, warning teachers to rely solely on the official digital channel for all application processes.

She commended educators for their patience during the transition period and assured stakeholders that continuous improvements are being made to enhance user experience and system reliability.
