The President, speaking at the State House Abuja on Tuesday while receiving a delegation of Katsina leaders led by Governor Dikko Umaru Radda, confirmed that the federal government is also weighing the creation of state police alongside reinforcing recently deployed forest guards.

Tinubu lamented the politicisation of the state police debate, noting that different states face unique challenges. “The security challenges we face are surmountable.

Yes, we have porous borders and inherited weaknesses, but we must fix them. I have directed all security agencies to intensify their strategies. We have approved additional drones and I expect daily feedback on operations in Katsina,” he said.

The President added that his administration’s review of national security will prioritise the protection of children, livelihoods, worship centres, and public spaces from criminal attacks.

On former President Muhammadu Buhari, Tinubu promised to immortalise him, praising his legacy as “one of success, not defeat.”

In response, Governor Radda thanked the President for ongoing federal support in appointments and infrastructure, but appealed for more backing in youth empowerment and security.
