Tems reveals she could have been a mathematics teacher or accountant if not a Grammy-winning musician

Temilade Openiyi, popularly known as Tems, Grammy-winning Nigerian singer and songwriter, revealed in Lagos on 14 August 2025 that she would have pursued a career as a mathematics teacher or accountant if she had not become a professional musician.

She also noted that accounting would have been another potential career option.

“If music didn’t work for me, I might have been an accountant or a mathematics teacher,” Tems responded to a fan’s query.

Tems further explained that before fully committing to music, she had worked as a digital marketer, a role she left to focus entirely on her passion for music.
