Anambra State Governor Chukwuma Soludo has vowed to move against certificate forgers after the November 8 governorship election, warning that fake degrees deceive young Nigerians

Anambra State Governor, Prof. Chukwuma Soludo, has vowed to launch a crackdown on individuals parading fake academic certificates once the November 8 governorship election is concluded.

Soludo disclosed this in Awka at the weekend while inaugurating the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) governorship campaign council.

The governor alleged that the running mate to a major governorship candidate is parading a forged PhD certificate, despite only officially declaring a school certificate.

“INEC has a column where if you are filing your governorship form, you fill in your qualifications. The running mate to this candidate wrote that (s)he had a school cert, and a PhD,” Soludo said.

“What it means is that (s)he does not have a diploma, a degree or a masters degree, but jumped to present a PhD, that is wrong.

Investigations show the PhD came from a fake institution where, if you pay, you get it sometimes for as low as 60 dollars. That university has no accreditation in the US and is not recognized by the National Universities Commission.”

Soludo warned that such acts set a dangerous precedent for younger generations.

“It confuses the children. If that (PhD) is what you want, you sit down and work for it, not going to get fake certificates. They are deceiving our children. We cannot let that continue to happen,” he said.

The governor added that the state government had already tackled fake native doctors and would extend its campaign of moral restoration to certificate forgers.

“After November 8 election, we will declare war on fake certificate holders. The work we have to do in Anambra to sanitize the state is much, and we will not shy away from it,” he said.
