Cristiano Ronaldo says his move to the Saudi Pro League influenced other top stars to join, following Al-Nassr’s win over Al-Ahli

Al-Nassr captain Cristiano Ronaldo has claimed that his move to the Saudi Pro League helped open the door for other global stars to join the competition.

The Portuguese forward made the statement during a conversation with former Manchester United captain Rio Ferdinand, reflecting on the league’s rapid rise in international attention.

Since Ronaldo’s arrival, several high-profile players, including Neymar, Karim Benzema, N’Golo Kanté, Sadio Mané, Riyad Mahrez, and Ivan Toney, have also moved to the Saudi Pro League.

Ronaldo said he would address several broader issues at the end of the season, hinting at deeper reflections on developments within the league.

He maintained that his early decision to join the Saudi Pro League was significant, suggesting it influenced other players’ choices to follow.

The forward also called for respect towards referees, noting that mistakes are part of human nature and should be understood within the game.

His comments came shortly after Al-Nassr secured a 2–0 victory over Al-Ahli, a result that strengthened their domestic campaign.
