Real Madrid have agreed a reported €2 million deal for Ghanaian defender Oscar Naasei, with the 21-year-old completing his medical in Spain on Thursday, August 27, 2026, before joining Real Madrid Castilla from Granada.

The agreement was first reported by transfer journalist Fabrizio Romano, who said Real Madrid had beaten competition from a German club to secure the centre-back’s signature.

Naasei is regarded as a long-term prospect rather than an immediate first-team signing, with the defender expected to develop under Julián López de Lerma at Castilla.

The Real Madrid Naasei deal represents a significant career step for a player who has risen quickly since arriving in Spain from Ghana.

Naasei joined Granada’s academy in 2023 after developing at Emmanuel City in Ghana.

Granada confirmed in July 2024 that the club had renewed his contract following his rapid progression through the youth ranks.

His progress soon earned him an opportunity with Granada’s reserve side.

Naasei made his Recreativo Granada debut in Primera Federación against UD Melilla on March 17, 2024, and went on to make nine further appearances, all as a starter, during that spell.

The Accra-born defender subsequently broke into Granada’s senior set-up.

His 2025-26 campaign was particularly productive, with available career records showing 39 starts and 2,901 minutes in 43 appearances for Granada across the season, including one goal.

Naasei also featured for Granada at the beginning of the 2026-27 campaign. LaLiga records list him as a 21-year-old Ghanaian defender, standing 1.85 metres tall, with two appearances and 40 minutes recorded at the time of the latest update.

His versatility adds to his appeal. Although primarily a centre-back, Naasei has also been used at right-back, according to player records.

The defender’s development has also attracted attention from Ghana’s national set-up. Granada confirmed his call-up to Ghana’s Under-20 squad for preparations for the WAFU Cup in 2025.

Real Madrid’s interest is therefore based on more than a brief emergence. Naasei has spent three years developing within the Spanish system and has already gained senior experience despite his age.

Spanish publication AS previously described Naasei as one of Granada’s promising academy products, highlighting his physical presence and maturity after his rapid rise from the youth ranks.

The move to Madrid nevertheless brings a new challenge. Castilla provides a competitive environment where young players are expected to adapt quickly, while the long-term objective for Naasei will be to demonstrate that he can eventually compete at senior level.

For Real Madrid, the reported €2 million investment is a relatively measured gamble on a defender who has already shown an ability to progress through the Spanish football system.

For Naasei, the transfer is a potentially transformative opportunity. From Emmanuel City in Accra to Granada and now the Real Madrid structure, his career has taken another remarkable step forward.
