Pep Guardiola has reacted to the dismissal of Liam Rosenior at Chelsea, describing the decision as unfortunate and expressing sympathy for the former head coach.

Rosenior was sacked on Wednesday following Chelsea’s 3–0 Premier League defeat to Brighton on Sunday, ending his brief spell in charge of the club.

Reacting after Manchester City’s 1–0 win over Burnley, Guardiola said he was saddened by the development and believes Rosenior is capable of managing at top level.

“I’m so sorry,” Guardiola said, adding that Rosenior is “a manager for that level.”

The Manchester City boss also reflected on his own position in elite football management, stating that he considers himself fortunate to be working at a stable club environment.

“I always think about how lucky I am to be in the club where I am,” he added.

Guardiola’s comments come amid continued managerial instability at Chelsea, where the club has undergone multiple coaching changes in recent seasons as it searches for consistency.
