Victor Osimhen is named among Europe’s top three strikers as Michael Lahoud backs Galatasaray to reach the Champions League top eight

Victor Osimhen, the Galatasaray and Nigeria striker, has been named among the three leading forwards in European football by former Sierra Leone international Michael Lahoud, who believes the Nigerian can play a decisive role in Galatasaray’s Champions League campaign.

Lahoud made the assessment while discussing Galatasaray’s prospects in this season’s Champions League, highlighting the attacking quality available to the Turkish champions.

The former Sierra Leone international placed Osimhen alongside Bayern Munich’s Harry Kane and Real Madrid’s Kylian Mbappé among the elite strikers currently operating in Europe.

“Galatasaray has arguably the best striker in Europe right now alongside Harry Kane, Kylian Mbappe and Victor Osimhen,” Lahoud said on the CBS Sports Golazo Network.

Lahoud also identified Rafael Leão, Osimhen’s new Galatasaray teammate, as a potential difference-maker for the Turkish side in Europe.

He believes the combination of Osimhen and Leão could give Galatasaray the attacking firepower required to compete against some of the continent’s strongest clubs.

“I stand on business when I say that the numbers don’t lie when it comes to the Champions League. But the fact that Galatasaray have Rafael Leao, I think that becomes a real X factor,” Lahoud said.

Lahoud went further in his assessment, predicting that Galatasaray will finish inside the top eight of the Champions League league phase.

“Galatasaray will finish the Champions League league phase in the top eight this season,” he said.

Osimhen enters the European campaign with his reputation firmly established after several prolific seasons at the highest level.

His combination of pace, physical strength, movement and finishing has made him one of the most feared centre-forwards in European football, while his performances have also made him a central figure for Nigeria.

His continued development has been particularly significant since his move to Galatasaray, where expectations surrounding the striker have grown alongside the club’s ambitions on the European stage.

The arrival of Leão adds another powerful attacking option to a Galatasaray side seeking to make a deeper impression in continental competition.

For Lahoud, the presence of Osimhen and Leão gives Galatasaray an attacking dimension capable of troubling Europe’s leading clubs.
