Osimhen injury recovery update as Galatasaray coach Okan Buruk hints Victor Osimhen could return sooner than expected after arm injury

Turkish Super Lig champions Galatasaray have received a timely boost after head coach Okan Buruk confirmed that Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen is progressing well in his recovery from an arm injury and could return to action in the coming weeks.

Osimhen sustained the injury during Galatasaray’s UEFA Champions League play-off clash against Liverpool FC at Anfield, forcing him out of recent fixtures as the club managed back-to-back league matches without their star forward.

The update comes as Galatasaray continue to maintain their strong position at the top of the Super Lig table, despite a temporary setback in a 2-1 defeat to Trabzonspor before bouncing back with a 3-1 win over Göztepe.

Speaking after the latest victory, Okan Buruk suggested that Osimhen could return to the matchday squad as early as next Saturday’s fixture against Gençlerbirliği, depending on his fitness progress.

The coach also noted that a cautious approach is being taken, with the possibility of managing the striker’s return around key upcoming fixtures, including a high-profile derby against Fenerbahçe.
