NYSC Extends Service of 12 corps members in Osun over misconduct as 27 others are declared absconders

The National Youth Service Corps in Osun State has extended the service year of 12 corps members from the 2025 Batch A Stream II over various offences committed during their mandatory national service.

The development was disclosed in a statement issued on Thursday by the scheme’s spokesperson, Mrs Catherine Otemuyiwa, in Osogbo.

The Osun NYSC Coordinator, Mr Ekeng Kubiangha, said 2,132 corps members successfully completed the one-year national service and had been issued Certificates of National Service.

Ekeng Kubiangha also revealed that 27 corps members were declared absconders in accordance with the provisions of the NYSC Bye-Laws.

According to the coordinator, the affected corps members faced sanctions over acts of indiscipline and other violations committed during their service year.

Ekeng Kubiangha congratulated the outgoing corps members for successfully completing the programme and praised their contributions to the development of their host communities across the state.

The coordinator urged the corps members to safeguard their Certificates of National Service and preserve the credibility and integrity of the scheme.

“I want to caution corps members against partisan political activities and statements capable of exposing them to danger ahead of the forthcoming elections in the state,” he said.

Ekeng Kubiangha further advised the corps members to remain security conscious, law-abiding and committed to self-development and economic independence.

He described the NYSC scheme as a vital platform for personal growth, national unity and community development, urging participants to uphold the values of discipline, patriotism and integrity acquired during service.

During the passing-out ceremony, Certificates of National Service were presented to eligible corps members, while outstanding Corps Liaison Officers received Certificates of Commendation for exemplary and impactful service.
