Nnadozie earns CAF 2025 nomination as Nigeria celebrates its top football talents

Nnadozie has earned a remarkable nomination for the 2025 CAF Women’s Goalkeeper of the Year award, underscoring her exceptional performances this season.

The Brighton & Hove Albion keeper joins Morocco’s Khadija Er-Rmichi and South Africa’s Andile Dlamini on the final shortlist, highlighting Nigeria’s growing impact on African football.

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) released the final nominees on Sunday ahead of the gala in Rabat, Morocco, scheduled for Wednesday, November 19.

The awards recognise Africa’s top performers for the period from January 6 to October 15, 2025.

Nigeria’s presence is strong across categories. Victor Osimhen and Rasheedat Ajibade feature among the finalists for the men’s and women’s Player of the Year awards, while Shakirat Moshood earns a spot in the Women’s Young Player of the Year category.

Osimhen, currently making waves at Galatasaray, faces competition from Mohamed Salah of Liverpool and Achraf Hakimi of Paris Saint-Germain.

Ajibade, who led the Super Falcons to a record 10th WAFCON title, joins Morocco’s Ghizlaine Chebbak and Sanaa Mssoudy as finalists for Women’s Player of the Year.

Nnadozie’s nomination follows a season of consistent displays for both Paris FC and the Super Falcons, with CAF praising her reliability and leadership in goal.

Moshood also impressed with Bayelsa Queens and the Prosperity Girls, finishing as top scorer in the WAFU B Zonal Champions League and guiding her teams to significant continental competitions, reflecting Nigeria’s nurturing of young talent.

CAF confirmed that additional awards, including Women’s Coach of the Year, Interclub Player of the Year, and Club of the Year, will be announced following the conclusion of the ongoing CAF Women’s Champions League Egypt 2025.

Falcons coach Justine Madugu is expected to feature among the finalists.

The Women’s Team of the Year shortlist recognises Ghana, Morocco, and Nigeria for their success in continental competitions.

Nominees were selected by a panel of experts including technical committee members, coaches, CAF Legends, and media representatives.
