Nigeria celebrates 65th Independence anniversary with religious, civic, and cultural events themed “All Hands on Deck for a Greater Nation.”

Nigeria 65th Independence anniversary celebrations have officially begun as the Federal Government unveiled a comprehensive week-long programme of activities to mark the milestone.

The events are themed “Nigeria @ 65: All Hands on Deck for a Greater Nation.”

The celebrations kicked off today, Friday, September 26, with a special Jumu’ah prayer at the National Mosque, Abuja, drawing dignitaries and clerics in prayers for national unity and progress.

On Sunday, September 28, an inter-denominational church service will hold at the National Christian Centre in Abuja from 10:00 a.m., fostering a spirit of inclusiveness and national reflection.

A world press conference is scheduled for Monday, September 29, at the National Press Centre, Radio House, Abuja, also at 10:00 a.m., where officials are expected to speak on national progress and upcoming plans.

The highlight of the festivities will take place on Tuesday, October 1, when President Bola Ahmed Tinubu delivers a nationwide broadcast at 7:00 a.m., marking the country’s 65th year of independence.

This will be followed by the Independence Day parade at 10:00 a.m. at the Presidential Villa, with military displays, cultural performances, and tributes to national heroes.

Rounding off the anniversary week, Friday, October 3 will feature the presidential unveiling of the National Values Charter (NVC) and the grand finale of the National Campus Debate, both set for the State House Conference Centre at 10:00 a.m.
