Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan empowers Kogi Central with electric vehicles, providing training and promoting sustainable livelihoods for over 100 beneficiaries

Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan launched a major empowerment drive in Kogi Central, distributing electric vehicles to more than 100 beneficiaries across the district’s five local government areas.

The initiative, described as one of the most ambitious constituency-based interventions in the area, paired skills development with clean-energy mobility.

Beneficiaries underwent intensive technical and operational training provided by professional engineers from the Electric Motor Vehicle Company, equipping them with the knowledge to safely operate, maintain, and manage electric vehicles.

The project was fully funded by the senator.

Speaking during the handover ceremony, Akpoti-Uduaghan emphasised that the programme aimed to go beyond mere distribution of assets.

“Electric vehicle adoption represents not only environmental responsibility but also economic opportunity,” she said, highlighting the transition toward cleaner and sustainable energy solutions.

The senator stressed that the core objective is sustainable livelihood creation.

Participants were urged to approach the opportunity responsibly, maintain road safety, and use the vehicles to support families and local economic activity.

Observers described the initiative as a forward-looking blend of environmental sustainability and economic empowerment.
