Naira Marley Mohbad death case deepens as rapper urges Lagos police to re-arrest all suspects, stressing innocence and demanding trusted investigation

Naira Marley Mohbad death case has taken another turn as Nigerian rapper Azeez Fashola, popularly known as Naira Marley, has called on the Lagos State Police Command to re-arrest all suspects linked to the late singer’s death, including himself.

In a video shared via his YouTube channel on Tuesday, Naira Marley maintained his innocence while urging the authorities to assign a trustworthy officer to handle the investigation.

“I came back to Nigeria to support the police because I can see fingers pointing our ways. I had nothing to do with it, but Mohbad deserves justice. If you ask me, I will tell the police to arrest everybody again. Put an officer we can trust in charge,” he said.

The rapper revealed he had spent two months in detention at Panti in 2023 alongside his associate Samson Balogun (Samlarry) after being accused of complicity in Mohbad’s death.

He alleged there was a conspiracy to keep him detained, pointing to leaked group chats that mentioned both the officer in charge and a judge.

Naira Marley also disclosed that he had reached an agreement with Mohbad’s lawyer to transfer the late singer’s royalties to whichever family member the court appoints to manage his estate.

Mohbad, born Ilerioluwa Oladimeji Aloba, died under controversial circumstances on September 12, 2023. His passing sparked widespread outrage, with allegations leveled against his former label boss, Naira Marley, and Samlarry.

Other arrests followed, including Mohbad’s childhood friend Prime Boy and auxiliary nurse Feyisayo Ogedengbe, who administered the injection linked to the singer’s death.

However, the Lagos State Coroner’s Court later ruled that the decomposed state of Mohbad’s body made a definitive cause of death impossible to determine.

The court concluded that there was no evidence of foul play but cited medical negligence, ordering the prosecution of Ogedengbe.
