Kano denies blocking Kwankwaso, dismisses Galadima’s claim as false and urges proof or retraction to preserve peace

The Kano State Government on Thursday denied allegations that Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf sought federal intervention to prevent Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso from entering Kano State, describing the claim as false, malicious and misleading.

The allegation was earlier made by Senator Kwankwaso’s political associate, Alhaji Buba Galadima, during an interview with an online newspaper, where he claimed that the state government had written to the Federal Government to stop the former governor from visiting the state.

Reacting swiftly, the Kano State Commissioner of Information and Internal Affairs, Ibrahim Waiya, dismissed the claim in a statement issued in Kano, describing it as reckless and unfounded.

Ibrahim Waiya said the Kano State Government had at no time written to the Federal Government or any authority with the intention of preventing Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso or any Nigerian citizen from entering the state.

Ibrahim Waiya stated that the allegation existed only in the imagination of its sponsors and should be treated with contempt.

He stressed that Kano remained a peaceful and law abiding state where the constitutional rights of citizens, including freedom of movement and association, were respected and protected.

According to Ibrahim Waiya, the administration of Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf was focused on governance, service delivery and the welfare of residents rather than political distractions.

Ibrahim Waiya described the attempt to drag the Federal Government into what he called local political narratives as irresponsible and unacceptable, warning that such claims could unnecessarily heat up the polity.

The Kano State Government called on Alhaji Buba Galadima to provide credible evidence to support his claim or withdraw the statement in the interest of peace and political maturity.

Ibrahim Waiya reassured residents that the government remained committed to unity, peace and the democratic rights of all citizens and would not be distracted by political provocation.
