Kano building collapse tragedy kills four, injures seven as rain-soaked structure caves in. Emergency teams continue rescue in Sabon-Gari. Investigation pending

Tragedy struck in the Sabon-Gari area of Kano on Sunday evening when a three-storey building under construction collapsed during a heavy downpour, killing four people and injuring seven others.

The incident occurred on Abedi Street, where witnesses said several individuals had taken shelter inside the incomplete building to escape the rain. Moments later, the structure gave way.

Emergency response teams, including officials from the Kano State Emergency Management Agency, security operatives, and the National Emergency Management Agency, rushed to the scene to rescue victims.

“The search and rescue effort is ongoing, as some individuals may still be trapped under the rubble,” said an emergency official who declined to be named.

The injured victims are currently being treated at the Murtala Mohammed Specialists Hospital in Kano.

As of Tuesday morning, the exact cause of the collapse remains unclear. Authorities have said a full investigation will begin once rescue operations are completed.
