Bishop Oyedepo urges a seven-day prayer to tackle Nigeria’s Insecurity Crisis as he condemns rising killings, kidnappings and attacks on communities

Bishop David Oyedepo on Sunday condemned the worsening Insecurity Crisis across Nigeria, urging Christians to embark on a seven-day national prayer for divine intervention.

Speaking during the 4th Pre-Shiloh Encounter Service on 23 November 2025, the Living Faith Church founder said the escalating attacks on worshippers and communities had reached an “unacceptable” level.

In a strongly worded address, he described the violence as a direct assault on innocent citizens and insisted that the Church in Nigeria would remain unshaken.

He told worshippers, “The Church of Christ in Nigeria is indestructible. The gates of hell cannot prevail against it. Nigeria will never become an Islamic state. Never, never, never.”

He condemned those behind recent killings, particularly referencing the shooting of five worshippers in a church and the disappearance of 35 abductees.

According to him, kidnappers now treat abductions as “big-time business”, demanding huge ransoms from impoverished communities.

He declared a curse on the perpetrators and their alleged sponsors, calling their actions an affront to humanity.

Oyedepo urged believers nationwide to begin intensive midnight prayers from Sunday, asserting that spiritual warfare was necessary in the face of deteriorating safety.

He said the prayer movement would “send angels on assignment”, warning that there would be divine repercussions in the camp of criminals.

The cleric also instructed believers to anoint their homes and workplaces as protective “no-go areas”, urging them to take spiritual responsibility for their families and communities.

He described the current state of insecurity as worse than slavery, criticising kidnappers who demand ransoms in the hundreds of millions.

Vowing that attacks on church members would no longer go unanswered, he said a spiritual operation would commence at midnight.

“Any member of this church touched equals fire and brimstone in the camp of the enemy,” he declared, insisting the assault on innocent lives must stop.

The call to prayer marks one of Oyedepo’s strongest public interventions in Nigeria’s insecurity debate, as concerns grow over kidnappings, armed attacks and the government’s struggle to contain them.
