Højlund Napoli revival gathers pace as striker admits struggles at Man United and says he has found joy again in Italy

Rasmus Højlund, striker for SSC Napoli, has admitted he struggled during his time at Manchester United, while declaring that he has rediscovered joy since moving to Italy.

Speaking in an interview with TV2, the Denmark international reflected on his difficult spell at Old Trafford, where he failed to meet expectations after joining from Atalanta BC in 2023.

“If we look at the recent periods at Manchester United, I didn’t perform well. I’m aware of that, but now many things have changed,” Rasmus Højlund said.

The forward was sent on loan to SSC Napoli last year, a move that has since marked a turning point in his career.

He revealed that criticism extended beyond England, with some questioning his future even in Denmark.

“They even said I was finished in Denmark, but I never gave up. At Napoli, I feel joy again,” he added.

Since his arrival, the 23-year-old has shown signs of a confident resurgence, with his performances contributing to renewed optimism around his development.
