Governor Uba Sani celebrates major APC defections in Kaduna as nine lawmakers and thousands of supporters join the party at a mega rally

Governor Uba Sani has expressed delight over the growing strength of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kaduna State, following the defection of four state assembly members, five federal lawmakers, and thousands of supporters from opposition parties during a mega rally held on Saturday.

The rally, which took place at Murtala Square in Kaduna, drew an impressive crowd and featured top party leaders, including APC National Chairman, Professor Nentawe Yilwatda, Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Tajudeen Abbas, and Minister of Environment, Alhaji Balarabe Abbas Lawal.

With the latest defections, APC now holds 13 of Kaduna’s 16 House of Representatives seats and 26 out of 34 State Assembly seats, solidifying its dominance in the state.

Governor Sani assured the decampees of full inclusion, saying:

“APC is one family that does not discriminate. Those who joined today and those who have been with us since inception will enjoy equal privilege.”

He attributed the influx to his administration’s commitment to justice, fairness, and inclusivity, noting that Kaduna had witnessed no ethno-religious crisis since his assumption of office.

“Our diversity is our strength. Poverty has no respect for religion or ethnicity. We are united by our shared interest in the development of Kaduna State,” he added.

The Governor also pledged overwhelming support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the 2027 elections, boasting that APC would secure 95 per cent of Kaduna’s votes.

APC National Chairman Nentawe Yilwatda described the party as “the promised land” for Nigerian politicians, urging continued support for both Tinubu and Sani, while Speaker Tajudeen Abbas declared Kaduna a “one-party state,” saying:

“Whether in Zone 1, Zone 2, or Zone 3, APC is now the party to beat.”

Speaking on behalf of the defectors, Hon. Husseini Jalo thanked the Governor and President Tinubu for their leadership, pledging loyalty and continued support.

Prominent defectors include Hon. Sadiq Ango (Sabon Gari), Hon. Andulkarim Husseini Ahmad (Kaduna South), Hon. Aliyu Mustapha Abdullahi (Ikara/Kubau), and Hon. Hussaini Jalo (Igabi).

Others are former Senators Danjuma Lah, Suleiman Othman Hunkuyi, and Shehu Sani, as well as ex-Governor Muktar Ramalan Yero and former PDP State Secretary Hon. Saidu Adamu.
