Flamingos U-17 World Cup squad opens training camp in Abuja ahead of the 2025 FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup in Morocco

Flamingos U-17 World Cup squad preparations are officially underway as Nigeria’s U-17 women’s national team opened camp in Abuja ahead of the 2025 FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup in Morocco, scheduled for October 17 to November 8.

Head coach Bankole Olowookere has invited 30 players to the initial training camp, comprising 4 goalkeepers, 9 defenders, 9 midfielders, and 8 forwards.

All selected players are expected to report on Sunday for the start of a crucial preparatory phase.

The Flamingos U-17 World Cup squad is looking to build on its historic bronze medal finish in 2022, when Nigeria made the podium for the first time in the competition’s history.

To reach Morocco 2025, the team overcame tough qualifying matches, eliminating Algeria and South Africa in decisive fashion.

This year’s tournament is expanded to 24 teams and will be hosted in Morocco, marking the beginning of the nation’s five-edition hosting agreement.

Matches will be played across four venues in two cities:

• Prince Héritier Moulay el-Hassan Sports Complex
• Prince Moulay Abdellah Sport Complex
• Al Barid Stadium
• Mohamed VI Football Academy

Coach Olowookere and his technical team will begin screening and shaping the squad over the coming weeks, with international friendlies and training camps expected before the team departs for Morocco.
