Super Eagles media officer denies reports linking Éric Chelle to Wydad Casablanca, confirming his contract with NFF runs until January 2027

Super Eagles media officer, Promise Efoghe, has denied reports linking head coach Éric Chelle to Moroccan club Wydad Casablanca.

The claim, aired on Morocco’s Le7TV, suggested that the 48-year-old Malian coach was close to replacing current Wydad handler Amine Benhachem.

Efoghe, however, labelled the report as false, stressing that Chelle remains fully committed to Nigeria.

“The story circulating about Éric Chelle joining Wydad Casablanca is inaccurate,” Efoghe said.

Chelle has drawn interest from top clubs and national teams across Africa and Europe after guiding the Super Eagles to third place at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations.

The coach’s current contract with the Nigeria Football Federation runs until January 2027, ensuring his continued leadership of the national team for the foreseeable future.
