Elon Musk’s net worth reaches $780 billion after xAI’s valuation jumps to $250 billion, bringing him closer to the $800 billion milestone

Elon Musk has edged closer to becoming the world’s first $800 billion individual after his net worth surged to $780 billion.

The Tesla and SpaceX CEO gained $62 billion following a successful funding round for his AI and social media venture, xAI Holdings, which saw its valuation more than double to $250 billion.

According to Forbes Real-Time Billionaire Index, Musk’s 49% stake in xAI is now worth $122 billion.

The surge also benefited investors such as Saudi billionaire Prince Alwaleed Bin Talal Alsaud, Twitter cofounder Jack Dorsey, and Oracle cofounder Larry Ellison.

xAI’s rapid rise coincides with significant global AI spending, though the company has faced scrutiny over its Grok chatbot generating fake and explicit content. Despite this, investor confidence remains strong.

Musk’s wealth milestones in 2025 and 2026 include becoming the first person worth $500 billion, then crossing $600 billion and $700 billion after major private valuations of SpaceX and Tesla stock options.

His largest holdings remain SpaceX at $336 billion and Tesla at $307 billion.

Meanwhile, Nigeria’s billionaires also feature prominently in Africa’s growing wealth landscape.
