Ekiti Governorship election Victory for Oyebanji as he wins re-election with 319,224 votes, calling it a strong endorsement of his leadership

Governor Biodun Oyebanji of Ekiti State has expressed deep gratitude to residents following his emphatic re-election victory in the state’s governorship poll, which was officially declared by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) on Saturday.

The Ekiti Governorship Election Victory saw Oyebanji return to office after polling a total of 319,224 votes across all 16 local government areas, a result he described as both “humbling and inspiring” in remarks delivered in Ado-Ekiti shortly after the announcement.

The governor said the outcome reflected strong public confidence in his administration and its development agenda, adding that the result represented a renewed mandate to continue ongoing reforms across the state.

“This makes the election one of the most remarkable political outcomes in Ekiti State’s history,” Oyebanji said, noting that his campaign received widespread support across wards and polling units.

He disclosed that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu had personally called to congratulate him on the victory, while also confirming that he reached out to opposition candidates Dr. Wole Oluyede and Ambassador Dare Bejide in the spirit of political sportsmanship.

The governor praised residents for what he described as a peaceful and orderly election, highlighting the absence of the kind of electoral tension often associated with previous cycles in the state.

Oyebanji credited voters for demonstrating what he called political maturity, adding that their participation reinforced confidence in democratic institutions.

He also extended appreciation to security agencies, INEC officials, traditional rulers, religious leaders, labour unions, market associations and persons living with disabilities for their roles in ensuring a credible electoral process.

According to him, the outcome was not only a personal victory but also a validation of collective progress in governance and civic engagement across Ekiti State.

The governor further pledged to intensify efforts in delivering democratic dividends, particularly in infrastructure development, poverty reduction and economic expansion programmes aimed at improving livelihoods.

“We will continue to work harder to ensure that every part of Ekiti State feels the impact of governance,” Oyebanji said, reaffirming his commitment to inclusive development.
