Edo NNPC condensate refinery planned at 10,000bpd across Oredo and Orhionmwon, targeting jobs, fuel supply and industrial growth

The Edo State Government on Thursday announced a partnership with NNPC Limited to establish a 10,000 barrels-per-day condensate refinery across Oredo and Orhionmwon Local Government Areas.

The development was disclosed in a statement by Patrick Ebojele, Chief Press Secretary to Governor Monday Okpebholo, following a courtesy visit by NNPC’s Executive Vice President, Downstream, Alhaji Mumuni Dagazia, and his management team to Government House, Benin City.

Governor Okpebholo described the proposed investment as a reflection of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, noting that the refinery would create jobs, reduce poverty and strengthen Edo State’s industrial base.

“We are delighted to welcome this major investment to Edo State. My administration is committed to creating jobs and reducing poverty, in line with the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu,” Governor Okpebholo said.

The governor assured the NNPC delegation of full state support, including provision of land, Certificates of Occupancy, security and logistics to facilitate the project.

According to the statement, the refinery is slated for completion within 24 to 36 months. Once operational, the facility is expected to produce about 20 truckloads of Premium Motor Spirit and 10 truckloads of Automotive Gas Oil daily to serve Edo State and neighbouring regions.

Alhaji Dagazia said the condensate refinery was designed as a sustainable project aimed at revenue generation, job creation and industrial growth.

The Chief Downstream Investment Officer at NNPC, Ikedichi Dick-Nwoke, said the project would position Edo State as a major energy and industrial hub in the South-South, boost investor confidence and expand employment opportunities for residents.
