Anastasios Douvikas scored a hat-trick as Cesc Fàbregas’ side recorded their third victory in four league-phase matches, moving to fourth place in the standings with nine points.

The result also made Como the second team in Champions League history to score nine goals in a single match, after Bayern Munich’s 9-2 victory over Dinamo Zagreb in September 2024.

Como took control early at the Stade Bollaert-Delelis, with Douvikas opening the scoring in the seventh minute before adding a second in the 32nd minute.

Nico Paz extended the visitors’ lead shortly before half-time, sending Como into the break with a commanding 3-0 advantage.

The Italian side continued their assault after the restart. Lucas Da Cunha scored in the 47th minute, followed by Marc-Oliver Kempf seven minutes later.

Douvikas then completed his hat-trick in the 57th minute, before Mattia Liberali added another in the 62nd.

Lens briefly reduced the deficit through Ruben Aguilar, but Martin Baturina restored Como’s seven-goal advantage in the 69th minute.

Substitute Matteo Papaccioli completed the rout in stoppage time, sealing a 9-1 victory on his European debut.

The result matched the eight-goal winning margin achieved by Liverpool and Real Madrid in their respective 8-0 victories over Beşiktaş in 2007 and Malmö in 2015.

However, Como became the first team to record a nine-goal away victory in the European Cup or Champions League since Feyenoord defeated Olympiacos 9-0 in September 1971.

The defeat was also a historic low for Lens, marking the heaviest loss suffered by a French club in the competition.

For Como, who are making their debut in the Champions League, the emphatic result further underlined their impressive start to the campaign under Fàbregas.
