Dispatch riders arrested for drugs in Abuja as NDLEA intensifies raids nationwide, seizing opioids, cannabis, and cocaine in Lagos, Benue, and other states

Dispatch riders arrested for drugs in Abuja have sparked renewed concerns about the covert distribution of narcotics through everyday delivery services.

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) confirmed the arrest of three young riders Sabo Sule, 24; Samuel Nnamdi, 28; and Idris Jibrin, 28 on Wednesday, July 30, during targeted stop-and-search operations in Gwarimpa, Jahi, and Galadimawa areas of the Federal Capital Territory.

Spokesman Femi Babafemi revealed that 149.8 grams of Canadian Loud, a high-grade cannabis strain, were recovered from the suspects using commercial dispatch motorcycles.

But the crackdown didn’t stop there.

In Lagos, NDLEA intercepted 71 vehicle side mirrors filled with tramadol and cocaine bound for Gabon. This led to multiple arrests, including a known cargo agent and others involved in concealing 2.60kg of cocaine in export shipments.

Also in Lagos, a businesswoman, Nwafor Nneka, was arrested at the Trade Fair Complex for trafficking cocaine and phenacetine hidden in ladies’ lipsticks en route to Equatorial Guinea. Her husband, alleged to be the mastermind, is still at large.

In separate operations:

3.3kg of Colorado cannabis was seized in Mushin.
A Benue checkpoint yielded 100,000 tramadol capsules.
In Osun State, suspects were caught with methamphetamine, skunk, and over ₦228,000 in cash.

From Bayelsa to Borno, Ogun to Kano, NDLEA agents recovered hundreds of kilograms of skunk and thousands of pills, showing the relentless spread of drug trafficking across Nigeria.

Babafemi reiterated the agency’s commitment to disrupting the supply chain, warning drug peddlers that “no location is beyond reach.”
