Deji Adeyanju calls on the Nigerian government to stop forgiving terrorists, insisting violent extremists deserve death, not leniency

Activist lawyer Deji Adeyanju has declared that terrorists and their sympathizers deserve the death penalty rather than forgiveness, calling for stricter government policies to tackle violent extremism.

Adeyanju made the remarks on his X page, urging the Federal Government to abandon policies that appear to pardon or reintegrate individuals involved in terrorism.

“Terrorists and their sympathizers deserve death not forgiveness. The Nigerian government must stop forgiving and romancing terrorism,” he wrote, warning that leniency could undermine national security efforts.

The activist criticized what he described as the government’s tendency to show softness toward terrorists, emphasizing that a firm and uncompromising response is necessary to protect citizens and deter future attacks.

His comments come as Minister of Defence Christopher Musa assured Nigerians that terrorists and bandits are suffering significant casualties in ongoing military operations.

Speaking after a security meeting with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu at the Presidential Villa, Abuja, Musa stated that the Armed Forces had briefed the President on the latest security situation and addressed “misleading interpretations” circulating in the media.
