The deceased, identified only as Prosper, reportedly died over the weekend in Auchi, Etsako West Local Government Area, while being initiated into the Aye confraternity, a notorious cult group known for its violent history.

Sources claim Prosper voluntarily sought initiation and was introduced by a relative, one Cosmos, said to be a senior member of the cult. Although Cosmos did not attend the initiation, he allegedly delegated other cult members to carry it out.

The initiation turned deadly when Prosper lost consciousness during intense physical “drills.” Reports suggest he may have consumed a hard drug prior to the ritual. He was rushed to a hospital in Jattu, but efforts to revive him failed.
