Real Madrid have reportedly agreed a €55m deal to sign Chelsea defender Marc Cucurella after the World Cup in a major transfer move

Spanish defender Marc Cucurella has reportedly agreed a move from Chelsea to Real Madrid in a deal worth around €55 million, with the transfer expected to be completed after the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

The proposed Cucurella transfer deal would see the 27-year-old left-back return to Spain’s top flight after four years in the Premier League, according to reports on Monday, June 15, 2026.

Cucurella, who currently plays for Chelsea in the English Premier League, joined the London club from Brighton in 2022 after earlier spells in Spain with Barcelona’s academy system and Getafe.

The move would mark a significant defensive reinforcement for Real Madrid, who are undergoing a squad rebuild under newly appointed manager José Mourinho following his return to the Santiago Bernabéu.

Reports also suggest the Spanish giants are actively pursuing additional defensive and midfield targets as they aim to restore dominance in European and domestic competitions after consecutive trophyless seasons.

Cucurella’s time at Chelsea included winning the UEFA Conference League and the FIFA Club World Cup in 2025, though the club endured a difficult Premier League campaign, finishing mid-table.

The defender had two years remaining on his contract at Stamford Bridge before the reported agreement, with Chelsea now expected to reshape their squad ahead of the new season.
