Manchester United open talks to keep Bruno Fernandes beyond this summer amid interest from Saudi Arabia and European clubs

Manchester United have moved to secure the long-term future of captain Bruno Fernandes, effectively ruling out any immediate plans to sell the midfielder despite growing interest from Saudi Arabian and European clubs.

According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, the Premier League side has opened discussions with Fernandes over his future at Old Trafford, with both parties holding initial talks aimed at extending their relationship beyond the current transfer window.

The development comes amid speculation surrounding the Portuguese international’s future and reports of a £57 million release clause contained in his contract.

Manchester United are understood to be keen on retaining the midfielder and have made it clear that he remains a central figure in the club’s plans for the coming seasons.

Fernandes, who is 31, is currently contracted to the club until June 2027 after establishing himself as one of the team’s most influential players since joining from Sporting CP.
