Nigerian troops under Operation Hadin Kai foiled a Boko Haram ambush along the Bulayob axis in Borno, recovering terror-linked supplies including religious texts, clothing, and bicycle parts

Troops of the Joint Task Force North East (JTF) under Operation Hadin Kai (OPHK) have foiled an attempted ambush by suspected Boko Haram/ISWAP terrorists along the Bulayobe–Darel Jamel axis in Borno State.

A counter-insurgency expert in the Lake Chad region, Zagazola Makama, said the incident occurred at about 5:35 a.m. on February 13 when troops, alongside Civilian Joint Task Force volunteers, were on night ambush duty near Papa 4, roughly 4.1 km from the Forward Operating Base.

The troops reportedly sighted insurgents attempting to cross the Main Supply Route from the Cameroon axis into Nigeria and engaged them with heavy gunfire, forcing the attackers to flee.

During a search of the area, troops recovered sacks containing items linked to terrorist operations. Recovered items included:

28 scarves and 10 Kampala materials
3 praying mats and 3 copies of the Qur’an
4 cashmere materials and 40 bicycle parts
1sewing machine, machine oil, measuring tape, and screwdriver
3 eye drops and 4 packs of ampicillin medication

One sack contained a sender’s detail traced to Kano, with the receiver traced to Maiduguri.

Military sources confirmed that troops have maintained heightened vigilance to deny terrorists freedom of movement in the area.
