Benue violence relief donation of ₦1bn announced by First Lady Oluremi Tinubu through RHI, urging peace and aiding displaced families amid ongoing killings

Benue violence relief donation efforts received a major boost as First Lady Oluremi Tinubu pledged ₦1 billion and additional support materials through her Renewed Hope Initiative (RHI) to aid displaced victims of recent attacks.

During her heartfelt visit to Benue, Tinubu mourned the tragic loss of lives, particularly in Yelwata and Dauda communities, and called for an immediate end to the violence. “This must stop,” she declared. “Benue has always been a haven of peace.”

She emphasized the need for dialogue over conflict, urging traditional, religious, and community leaders to champion reconciliation. “Love is the greatest power on earth,” she stated, urging locals to rebuild unity.

The ₦1bn relief package, part of RHI’s motto “Towards a Better Life for Families,” includes funding for economic recovery, housing, and humanitarian support.

Governor Hyacinth Alia praised the First Lady’s compassion, citing over 1.5 million Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) in the state and appealing for federal and global humanitarian intervention.

He further called for the domestication of open grazing bans, and advocated for state policing to improve security.
