The lawmaker condemned the rising spate of killings and abductions, particularly attacks attributed to Fulani herdsmen, and called on the government and security agencies to act immediately.

In a statement issued on Sunday, February 9, 2026, Ugbor described the situation as “alarming” and warned that border communities along the Turan and Ikyurav-ya axis, which border Cameroon and Taraba State, are becoming epicentres of violence due to the area’s vast terrain and mineral-rich lands.

Ugbor recommended activating the Border Patrol Unit, transforming the Cameroon border into an export processing zone, and demarcating boundaries between Benue and Taraba States.

He also advocated for the resettlement of displaced persons, restoration of farmlands, comprehensive mapping of mineral resources, and strict enforcement against illegal mining.

The lawmaker highlighted that implementing these measures would ensure lasting peace, strengthen security, and promote sustainable development for future generations.

He reaffirmed his commitment to supporting community policing and providing relief materials to residents affected by the violence.

Ugbor cited recent federal approvals for key institutions in his constituency including a National Open University Study Centre, Forestry Research Centre, Technology Incubation Centre, Infectious Disease Diagnostic and Treatment Centre, and a Federal Medical Centre as evidence that enhanced security is necessary to safeguard progress.
