Bayern Munich UEFA fine follows fan pitch invasion during Real Madrid win celebrations, leaving photographers injured in Champions League clash

German giants Bayern Munich have been fined by UEFA on Friday, April 24, 2026, following disciplinary action linked to crowd disturbances during their UEFA Champions League quarter-final win over Real Madrid at the Allianz Arena.

The incident occurred after Bayern Munich sealed a dramatic late victory in the second leg of the tie, securing progression to the semi-finals in front of a jubilant home crowd.

However, celebrations turned chaotic when a section of Bayern supporters in the ultras area climbed over pitch-side barriers, leading to a dangerous spill into the photographers’ zone.

Several media personnel were caught in the incident, with reports confirming that one photographer suffered a concussion while another sustained a head injury. Others required medical attention following the stampede.

UEFA subsequently imposed a total fine of €89,625 on Bayern Munich, citing multiple breaches of stadium safety regulations.

The breakdown of the sanction includes €40,000 for spectator disturbances, €30,000 for displaying a banner deemed critical of UEFA, €14,000 for blocked access routes, and €5,625 for objects thrown during the match.

Despite the severity of the incident, Bayern Munich avoided a stadium closure or supporter lockout for their upcoming semi-final fixture against Paris Saint-Germain.

The governing body had initially considered stronger disciplinary measures, but the club will be allowed to host a full-capacity crowd in the next round.

Bayern sporting director Christoph Freund had earlier expressed confidence that supporters would not be punished with a stadium ban, stating the club expected a “football festival” atmosphere at the Allianz Arena.

The incident has reignited discussions around fan safety and control during high-stakes European fixtures, particularly in matches involving intense emotional celebrations.
